I had fairly specific objectives in pursuing an MBA. I wanted to build on the skillset that I already have, so that I could become a more effective member of my firm and a better fiduciary for our investors. The chance to pursue a curriculum focused on asset management was really attractive. It provides a platform where I can learn from some of the brightest minds in my field, while also letting me collaborate with MBA candidates who have similar professional backgrounds and goals.

The retail industry is playing a significant part in the environmental crisis. The sustainability focus of my MBA will better prepare me to advocate for sustainable practices — I’m getting an overview of the core problems and learning some innovative ways to approach them. I want to help influence the industry overall to shift to a more long-term reward model that incentivizes decisionmakers to make the type of environmentally friendly decisions that may pay less today but will pay huge dividends in the future.

There’s a real need in the healthcare industry for leadership. While the industry in the U.S. has changed rapidly, with incredible advances in therapies and technology, the same isn’t always true for the quality of care that populations receive. When it comes to shaping policy, healthcare providers are in the optimal position to advocate for patients and for standards of care. But until the “business of healthcare” is taught to healthcare providers, this gap is being filled by clinicians like me who pursue business education.

Connect to a unique integrated core curriculum
The Yale approach puts an emphasis on viewing questions and problems from many perspectives and taking into account the connections between organizations and the broader society. The capstone course is called “The Executive” and synthesizes everything you learn in the core courses in one master class.

Connect with the best thinking
At Yale, you will connect with the best thinking in business, management, and leadership. The Yale SOM curriculum is unique in how it ties together the pieces of a business school education into a meaningful whole. In fact, your experience might look a lot like Patricia's day.

Connect to Yale University
Yale SOM is closely tied to the broader university both in its location and its curriculum. That means you have easy access to the splendors of the university's neogothic campus and the wealth of art museums, performance spaces, and libraries. Take classes, attend talks, and exchange ideas with students from around the world.
Connect to a Global Network
For one week, you’ll pursue intensive study at a Global Network partner school. This experience is like none other and will position you to thrive in roles requiring a broad understanding of the differences in diverse markets and stakeholders.
